Lightfoot Tree Service

Ben Lightfoot of Lightfoot Tree Service began his career at Sparsholt College gaining a National Certificate in Arboriculture in 2002. Once qualified he started out his employment at one of the largest Arboriculture companies in the UK, working primarily on council contract work. Since then he has gained experience in the domestic sector, carrying out freelance climbing for several local companies.

Heading back to college to gain further education in the form of the Arboricultural Association’s Technician Certificate at Merrist Wood College and then leading on to The Professional Tree Inspection Course. These two qualifications were required to work for a tree consultancy company carrying out tree surveys which has been useful in the crossover of day to day tree work.

Tree work undertaken:

Hedge Trimming – Some well-maintained hedges will only require a trim but we can also create a new height for those unruly hedges for ease of future maintenance.

Tree Pruning – A general term for the removal of branches. This could include thinning to make the crown less dense or cutting back from an obstacle.

Deadwooding – A removal of dead branches from within the crown

Tree Felling – removal of the tree.

Stump Grinding – Stumps can be removed through a grinding process allowing new trees/shrubs to be planted or even turf for landscaping projects.

Crown Raising – Raising the canopy of the tree to allow light or give clearance.

Crown Reduction – Making the overall height of the tree smaller or to give a better shape.

Cable Bracing – This is fitting a cable to give the branch assistance in load bearing. Trees with a high amenity value may require work to help retain them and cable bracing could be an option for branches or stems with minor structural defects.

Woodland Management – Thinning, clear felling or coppicing of trees to allow greater amenity, timber or habitat value.

“Fantastic service and excellent work. Would only ever use Ben for our tree surgery and hedge cutting needs and would highly recommend his services.”
